252150Sgt. David Hinshelwood
Royal Air Force 78 Squadron
David Hinselwood began his training in Ansons with Dalcross No.2 A.G.S on the 11th of September 1943, and moved onto Whitleys until 29th of January 1944 and moved into a Conversion Unit from there he was flying in Halifax aircraft.He began operational flying with 78 Squadron from RAF Breighton with F/Sgt Prichard with Ops to Paris on 30 April 1944. He later in June went on to participate in the allied invasion on the 5th/6th of June 1944, Ops to Caen (2nd front), and Ops to St. Lo on D-Day. He ended flying on the 6th of October 1944 with 37 Operations completed.

The free section of the Wartime Memories Project website is run by volunteers. We have been helping people find out more about their relatives wartime experiences since 1999 by recording and preserving recollections, documents, photographs and small items.
The website is paid for out of our own pockets, library subscriptions and from donations made by visitors. The popularity of the site means that it is far exceeding available resources and we currently have a huge backlog of submissions.
