Op Mech 4 George Albert Seabrook . RoyalNavy HMS Nelson from 31 Cressingham Road, Burnt Oak, Egware My grandfather served on the Glendower and the Victory but spent two years as part of the crew of HMS Nelson from 16th June 1943 until 28th April 1945. He served back on the Victory until 22nd December when he finished his service. I used to love listening to his navy stories as a kid most relating to his Nelson days which were treasured memories of people he was with during those frightening times. He died in the mid 90's in his mid - late 70's.

Stkr. Henry George Seabrook . Royal Navy HMS Manchester from 163 Cathall Rd, Leytonstone My father, George Seabrook, served on HMS Manchester until it was sunk in the Mediterranean. He was picked up on the beaches of Tunisia. He had stayed in Philadelphia while it was being repaired and, while there, he stayed with an American family. If anyone remembers him, I would love to hear from them.

Corporal Alan Seager . Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve (d.22nd Nov 1942) We are looking for Alan's wife Barbara Alice Seager, born in Glasgow, or any family to get in touch.
We are also seeking any further information from any relatives of Clifford Charles Weston, RAF Voluntary Reserve who also died as a POW. He is buried at Ambon War Cemetery.

P/O Kenneth Frank Seager . Royal Air Force 78 Squadron (d.27th March 1941) Bomber Command decided a combined attack on Cologne and Dusseldorf for the night of 27th of March 1941
A total of 77 aircraft flew crossed The Netherlands towards Germany. 38 British Wellington bombers flew to Cologne, of which one was missing later on. A fleet of 39 allied aircraft including 22 Hampdens, 4 Manchesters and 13 Whitleys flew to Dusseldorf, leaving one Manchester and one Whitley missing.
At exactly 7.29pm aircraft Z6470, code EY-G took of from RAF Dishforth. P/O Seager was the commander of its five-man crew. His Wireless Operator had regular contact but after 9.30pm it remained silent. The night fighters were already aware of the approaching bombers and one after another the Bf 100 took off. At 10.00pm, there was an air raid alarm in Venlo. Soon the German searchlights flashed on in search of prey. Shots broke through the nightly silence.
The Whitley was soon captured in light beams of German searchlights. He tried to escape, but Oberfeldwebel Herzog from the 3rd Staffel NJG1 of Fliegerhorst Venlo saw the plane in the searchlights and shot it down. The plane made its last dive. The aircraft came down in De Peel between Sevenum and Helenaveen. The entire crew was killed and maimed.
Initially, two bodies were found near the aircraft. Later three members of the crew were buried next to each other in Venlo. Probably the remains have ended up in the coffin of one of the other crew members. Apparently one other crew member was only found later, but he also was buried at the Venlo cemetery.
In 1947, their mortal remains were reburied at War Cemetery Jonkerbos in Nijmegen.

Sgt. Ray Horace Brook Searle . Royal Air Force 218 Squadron from London My father, Raymond Horace Brook Searle, was shot down whilst on a bombing raid on 27/28th August 1943. He was the wireless operator. He was sent to camp Stalag IVB and stayed there until liberation by the Russians. He wrote a diary for most of the first year of his imprisonment which we only discovered after he died. An awful lot of it talks about food or rather the lack of it and also all the illnesses. He died peacefully in 2005.

British Army 1st Btn. Border Regiment from Ibstone, Buckinghamshire (d.18th September 1944) As a small boy I was a neighbour of Sgt Stanley Sears. Yesterday I visited one of his sisters and and she told me that the family never received any information about how he was killed at Arnhem. His family knows nothing of his war record at all. His four sisters are still alive some in their nineties. They are trying to find a photo of him. I would be pleased if you could shed some light on it. Many thanks.

Lt. Neville St Ledger Seaton . South African Air Force 15 Sqdn. from Cape Province (d.23rd February 1944) My uncle, Lt. Neville St. Ledger Seaton, 547404V was a navigator on Baltimores for 15 Squadron (235 Wing, 201 Group). While doing long-range shipping reconnaissance off Iraklion Bay in Greece they were attacked at 0812 hrs by five ME 109 fighters off Dhia Island, Crete. The aircraft failed to return to base, so it is almost certain they were shot down by these fighters. With him were:
Lt. C.P. Peachey, 180275V, Pilot.
W/O 1. O.C. Spargo, 544027V, WOp/AG.
W/O 1 G. van Alphen, 572187V, WOp/AG.
All the crew were lost and are commemorated on the Alamein Memorial.
What I am trying to find out about my uncle is when he joined the war, what planes he flew and a list of his sorties. If anyone can help me with information, it will be greatly appreciated.

Pte. Harold "Mex" Seay . United States Army 509th Parachute Infantry Regiment from New Mexico Harold Seay was captured at Solerno, Italy when the 509th made a combat jump behind enemy lines. The Germans had broken Allied codes and knew they were coming. Most were killed or captured.
