Wanted: Digital copies of Group photographs, Scrapbooks, Autograph books, photo albums, newspaper clippings, letters, postcards and ephemera relating to WW2. We would like to obtain digital copies of any documents or photographs relating to WW2 you may have at home.If you have any unwanted photographs, documents or items from the First or Second World War, please do not destroy them. The Wartime Memories Project will give them a good home and ensure that they are used for educational purposes.

Pte. Judson Harmon "Gentile Jud" Rumsey. US Army, 2nd. Squadron 423rd Infantry Regt. (d.May 1945)
My Grandfather Judson H Rumsey was captured during the Battle of the Bulge on December 19 1944. Coincidentally this was my mothers birthday. At the time of his capture he was marched from the train station with his fellow P.O.W.'s many who had no boots because they were taken from them by their capturers. He died in May 1945 while imprisoned at Bad Orb in Stalag 9b POW camp.

Cptn. Norman Duncan Sellar. British Army, Essex Regiment. (d.1st May 1945)
Captain Sellar is buried in St. John's Cemetery in Antigua.s flynn
Sgt. Harold Cammidge. British Army, 1st Btn. King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry. (d.1st May 1945)
Harold Cammidge served throughout the war. He was wounded in action in Sicily and, sadly, killed in action on 1st May 1945 in the town of Potrau near Hamburg.

all he said was" We was surrounded by germans", when the fog lifted in the morning got they were captured and spent the rest of war in Stalag b3 or d3.T Bennett
L/Sgt. James William Robertson. British Army , 1st Btn. Green Howards. (d.1st May 1945)
James Robertson is my Great Grandfather and I found out whilst researching him, that he served with the 1st Green Howards (Yorkshire Regiment) and lost his life on the 1st of May 1945.Sarah Carter

Celebrate your own Family History
Celebrate by honouring members of your family who served in the Secomd World War both in the forces and at home. We love to hear about the soldiers, but also remember the many who served in support roles, nurses, doctors, land army, muntions workers etc.
Please use our Family History resources to find out more about your relatives. Then please send in a short article, with a photo if possible, so that they can be remembered on these pages.
The free section of the Wartime Memories Project website is run by volunteers. We have been helping people find out more about their relatives wartime experiences since 1999 by recording and preserving recollections, documents, photographs and small items.
The website is paid for out of our own pockets, library subscriptions and from donations made by visitors. The popularity of the site means that it is far exceeding available resources and we currently have a huge backlog of submissions.
