5043277 Nigel George Drever Royal Air Force 610 Sqd. My father, Nigel George Drever, was a prisoner of war in Stalag Luft 3, and
was part of the Long March in 1945. He helped to dig the tunnel for the Great Escape, but was not among the escapees. He was also in the Battle of Britain, flying a Spitfire with 610 Squadron aged 19. He was shot down and captured in 1941, I am trying to trace fellow prisoners of war who may be willing to meet him for his 90th birthday. Additional Information: | Having read some of the articles regarding the 75th Anniversary of The Battle of Britain I became aware that your father, Flt. Lt. Drever, was a member of 610 County of Chester Sqn. My late cousin was a flight commander with 610, and was sadly killed in action on 21st April 1943. His name was Doug Collinge.
Does your father remember him by any chance?
Please pass on my grateful thanks to your father - time cannot dim the light of what he and others did to save this country in its darkest hour.Ian Wear
