503679 Frank Smith Bevin Boys My late father Frank Smith was a Bevin Boy. I think he was called up in 1944. He would have been 21 on the 19th of September that year. He did his training at Pendlebury near Manchester from where he was posted to Hapton Valley near Burnley Lancs. He left the mining industry in 1947 just before the Pits were nationalised.
