William Taggart served with the 46th (Liverpool Welsh), Royal Tank Regiment.

The newspaper reported, Mr. and Mrs. Taggart of 22 Tay Street, Prince's Park, Liverpool, have been informed that their son, Trooper William Richard Taggart, aged 23, has been killed in action in the Central Mediterranean. He was previously reported missing and went through the North African campaign. At 18 he joined the Territorials, and went into the Regular Army on the outbreak of war, and had been overseas nearly two-and-a half years. He was an old boy of St. Silas's School, High Park Street. Liverpool.
