AC1. David Oliver Jones

Royal Air Force

from:St. Dogmeals, Cardigan, South Wales

Di Jones was my father. I have recently found love letters from him to my mother along with Christmas cards and telegrams. He has lots of medals which I wear proudly every year Burton on the Water memorial day (mum was from there). He went on to become a police officer for the MOD, reaching the rank of Police Inspector. The last of numerous postings and homes, not to mention 12 schools myself (MOD life!), was the RNSD at Llangennech, South Wales. He had 6 children, eldest Susan was three when she finally met him. Then came Jennifer, Helen, Bernadette, Andrew, myself (now 61) and younger brother Richard. All survive except Andrew, whom we lost 8 years ago at age 60. He has 23 grand-children, 19 great grand-children, and at last count 11 great-great-grandchildren. Dad himself was one of 12 (a sister died at 6 months unfortunately), and mum being one of 15, so lots of them and us. Dad has no surviving siblings as at this date 2019. His last sister died in July 2019. He loved fishing and shooting and weekend drives out in our very old cars, full of us kids always. He was a loving, but strict dad. Dad died at 66 on 6th January 1986.
