Pte. Frederick Louis Sweetland

British Army East Surrey Regiment

from:London

My grandfather Frederick Sweetland was a paratrooper in WW2 and was captured and became a POW at Arnhem. He survived and came home after the war and married my grandmother, Grace, who had been waiting for him throughout. They went on to have two daughters, the youngest being my mother.

We are looking for any other information that anyone my have about him. There was a message on here from a Sarah Brierley, who was searching for information about him too, as her mother was my grandfathers cousin - Edna Sweetland. Would be great to get in touch and have some missing pieces of a puzzle. My grandfather was a wonderful man who I have such special memories of. Sadly, he passed away in 2006 aged 85yrs and his wartime stories are now lost forever.
