William Charles Bolton

Royal Navy HMS Pembroke

Bill Bolton served from March 1945 to August 1973 in the Royal Navy. He trained as a shipwright, and his initial training was at HMS Pembroke, Chatham. He then went on to serve on at least eighteen other ships before being pensioned. Following pension, he then went on to serve on a Royal Navy HMS Dryad shore base for the Ministry Of Defence until state pension age. During his time there he was responsible for framing some of the maps and information in the operations room used for D-day.
