Stkr. William Ronald Wilding

Royal Navy Stoker HMS Drake

from:Llandudno, Wales

On D-Day 1944, stoker William Wilding was on his ship when she was hit off Normandy Beach. We believe she was off-loading American soldiers, because when the ship went down William had to swim to shore where he was looked after by American forces until he was returned to the British area 2 weeks later.
