258042 Pte. Joseph Phalen Canadian Army Cape Breton Highlanders Uncle Joe Phalen never ever talked about the war. His only story to me was that he played ball at Arnhem. This was a fun story for him since I had become a paratrooper. News about Joe comes back though, one of his future brothers in law saw the J. Phalen name on his kit and thought crikey!, he's 17. If that kid gets killed I can't go home! I have a photo of Joe in uniform with two of his five sisters also in uniform.
