Gnr. Lloyd E. Davies
British Army 5/3rd Maritime Regiment Royal Artillery
from:Blackpool
(d.14th August 1942)
Lloyd Davies was the eldest son of Robert J Davies and Annie Davies (Taylor) of 11 Ash Lane in Blackpool, Lancashire.
He was believed to have been born in the Liverpool area, possibly St. Helen's between 1917 and 1920.
A newspaper clipping from Blackpool dated 1942 stated that he was missing, presumed killed, in action while defending Britain. Suggestion from his father and brother was that it was a U Boat. No other information is known at this time.
In 1943, his younger brother, Robert, aged 15, joined the Marines. He had lied about his age, saying he was 17, nearly 18. He served until the end of the war, relocating to Canada in 1952. Died in 2010. Lost all he had of his brother in a house fire. We had photos of both in uniform.
