Pte. Amos Herbert Kercher

US Army

from:Oley, PA

Growing up my Grandfather, Amos Kercher would not speak of his experience during WWII. I later found out he was a Prisoner of War from 22nd of January 1944 until 12th of May 1945. During his time as a P.O.W., he had written letters to my Grandmother.

My Grandmother passed away in 1997 and from the following day up until the day he passed away, he would be asked by my Aunts and Uncles what he wanted for his birthday he would reply, To be with Mom. He finally received his birthday wish 14 years later, on the day of his birthday.
