Pte. Francis George Holmes

British Army

from:Newmarket

Francis George Holmes was injured when serving as a dispatch rider and sent to Liverpool Hospital were he was treated for a large amount of shrapnel to both legs. It was in this hospital that he met my mother. He was discharged from hospital but suffered most of his life with his injuries and as a young lad, I remember helping him removing shrapnel from his legs. As far as I know he was injured in North Africa.
