Maj. Jack Leslie Honychurch

British Army Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers

from:Essex

My father Jack Honeychurch was a Major in REME during WW2 having I believe, gone very quickly up the ranks. I understand he was involved in the Normandy Landings and my older cousin lived with him in rented accommodation in Devon at Budleigh Salterton, before he met my mother and often was driven up to London by him where he parked outside the war office to go in for meetings. My parents were married at the Union Chapel in Islington

He continued in the Army until after the war and I remember visiting his office at Stevenage and later on I understand he joined the RAF. We were based in Warminster after the war about 1948 and I believe the base may have been on Salisbury Plain.
