255716 Sgt. Leslie Charles "Chunkie" Dunn MM. British Army 5th (3rd THR) Recce Regiment Royal Armoured Corps from:Hackney, London Leslie Dunn was awarded the Military Medal during the Breakout from the Anzio Beachead. He was Car Commander of Lead LRC of Column 1. the Wheeled Odessey (according to the Regimental History). His Car blown up by German Teller Mine on the outskirts of Rome thanks to Mark Clarke. Photos of Dad and Harry Cowie are on show in the Anzio War Museum which I visited with my wife in June this year (2018) we had Celebrity Status among our visiting party. Dad served in 14 different countries and I am sure that he should be awarded additionally the Africa Star, Burma Star and the GSM with the Palestine Clasp. Unfortunately, when elements of the Regiment were drawn out of the line to deal with civil unrest in Palestine, the Regimental Records were burned.
