Cpl. Samuel Clarke

British Army 1st Btn. Durham Light Infantry

Sammy Clarke was in the 1st Battalion, Durham Light Infantry and had served in Africa. He was on his way home on leave when he was killed on 27th of September 1943.

Additional Information:

Samuel Clarke was killed in action on the Island of Kos. He was not on his way home on leave. Samuels boby was originally buried at Kos War Cemetery however the Greek government wanted the land the cemetery site occupied and the decision was made to move all those interred on Kos to the neighbouring island of Rhodes. samuel was reburied on Rhodes on 8th July 1957.
