254916 Sgt. Frederick Dennis Hobbs British Army Royal Berkshire Regiment from:Old Windsor, Berkshire Fred Hobbs enlisted into the Royal Berkshires at Reading on 11th of March 1940. He embarked for Italy and transferred to the Royal Fusiliers on 10th of February 1944 and was reported missing on the 18th. His wife was informed on 1st of April and on 1st of June shee was notified that he was a prisoner of war. On 3rd of July she was informed that he was P.O.W. no. 40026 and was held at Stalag 4A at Hohenstein-Ernstthal. Fred returned to the U.K. on 15th of May 1945 and was put on the Y list.
