Stanley "Ginger" Hamson

Auxiliary Fire Service Hull Central Fire Station

from:Hull

My father Stanley Hamson, also know as Ginger (because of his hair colour) was stationed at the Central Fire Station, he was born in Hull 27th May 1917, and joined the A.F.S. at the beginning of the war and was transferred to the N.F.S. I can remember my father returning home, after many air raids in Hull, during the war we lived in Florence Avenue, Kimberley Street, Hull. I can remember the Fire Service, celebrating Christmas time at the Central Station, inviting their families. My father left after the War, but I have not been able to get hold of any information on his service records as I have been told that these were destroyed by fire.
