Cpl. Montague Littman
Royal Air Force
My late Uncle Monty Littman always told me that he served in India during the last war but only recently was I able to see photographic proof of his service after speaking to my aunt who was his widow. He died in 1992.
He joined the RAF in 1942 age 18 and was a trained barber/hairdresser. When they asked for volunteers to become army barbers he refused to put his hand up.
However he volunteered to become a wireless operator which is the position he held there until 1947. His demobilisation was quite late because he enjoyed his job so much.
However, family pressures caused him to come back to England where he resumed work as a hairdresser for the rest of his life until he retired.
My Aunt Jean gave me 15 or so photos of him on active service in India which I think make an interesting record of his career.
