SSgt. Cecil Arthur Robitaille

United States Army

from:Detroit, Michigan

Uncle Art Robitaille was my favorite relative. He was captured at Normandy and held in Stalag 3c, but rarely spoke of being a POW. On those rare occasions when he did, Art mentioned trading the cigarettes in his care packages for food. He also told how at the end, the Russian women in tanks came in ahead of the Allied bombers and released the prisoners. The Germans had left so the POWs were on their own.
