My Uncle, Samuel Hellier, spent most of the duration of the war at Stalag 8a, Gorlitz, Saxony and later Stalag Luft 3. Nothing is known of how and where he was taken prisoner and what life was like for him other then a few letters discovered beneath the floor boards of a house on Hayling Island where his parents lived after the war as they had been bombed out of Portsmouth.
