Cpl. Albert Hamson
British Army
We recently discovered some postcards from WW2 POW Camp 383 in Germany. They are dated in 1943 and 1944 and were written by Corporal Albert Hamson to my father-in-law Don Toon who lived near Burton on Trent. From the wording, Albert used to work with Don on the railways in England before being called up. In the camp there were at least two other ex-Railwaymen, Ray Chadwick and Les Pickering. From the messages, Albert's wife was called Frances and Don and his wife used to write to her. We never saw Albert but remember that he was called Happy.
