248220 Flt.Lt. George Francis "Chico" Robertson DFC Royal Air Force 9 Squadron My wife's Uncle, George Robertson known as Uncle Chico, (due to his swarthy mediterranean complexion) whose family lived in Portugal but travelled to England before the war at least annually as father was in the Wine Trade (also a George Robertson). George Robertson born c1918 trained, according to the family, at RAF Chipping Norton and was seriously injured in a motorcycle accident in the base. London Gazette in 1941 has him promoting from Pilot Officer to Fight Lt. He married Yvonne Barrett in Essex in 1943 and their first child was born 1944 (my wife's cousin).
