Reginald Merritt was born at Wiston West Sussex on 21st of May 1919, the son of George Merritt & Louisa Annie Ragless. He was taken POW in North Africa while serving with the Royal Sussex Regiment and assigned to Stalag IVF at Hartmannsdorf near Chemnitz Germany, POW No 228722. He was liberated by US Army in March 1945 and returned to live in Sussex and married Frances Irene Partridge in 1946 at Sturminster Dorset before living near Worthing Sussex. Reginald and Frances both died in 2011 at Pulborough, Sussex.
