Sgt. John "Jock" Dotchin
British Army
John Dotchin was my father. He was from Glasgow and was 37 when WW2 broke out. He had previously served as a Regular from Summer 1918 until 1925.
He found himself doing a variety of home service jobs during the war chief amongst which was being on the staff of a couple of POW Camps. One at Dane Bank in Denton and the other at Mellands Camp, Gorton.
He met my mother during his stay in the area, married, was discharged and settled there after the war.
