Trpr. Frederick Francis Wheal

Trooper Frederick Wheal appears to have been captured on 12th of June 1940 at St Valery en Caux when lots of British units were surrounded and surrendered when ammunition ran out. He may have been part of Royal Armoured Corps and Reconnaissance Corps. His Prisoner of War number was 14539. He was in the 1st Lothian and Borders Yeomanry in 1940, and then 1st Lothian and Borders Regiment. In 1945 he is listed as with Royal Armoured Corps, and then 1st Lothian and Border Horse.
After the war, he appears to have married Pauline Fuller, and fathered 10 children in Hull. He died in 1985.
