Captain Albert William Dennis Hartley

British Army

from:Leeds

My father Albert Hartley hardly spoke about the war. I think he crossed the Channel on DD+1, as he once told me of the perils of getting off a cruiser onto landing craft in a storm. According to my mother he never drank before the war, but certainly did after he returned home. His photograph taken in 1946 shows a very gaunt man - which he most certainly wasn't after I popped into his life a few years later.
