Ord Sig. Tom "Ginger" Dewhurst

Royal Navy

from:Bolton

My dad, Tom Dewhurst, joined the Royal Navy in early 1942 and his best pal and drinking buddy, Harry Berry, who had chronic seasickness joined the Army at the same time. Two and a half years later dad, whilst serving on the Med, had a day pass to Alexandria. As he came out of the door to a local hostelry who should he bump into but Harry, the friend he hadn't seen for over two years. Neither had known where each other where, or even if each other were alive. The million to one chance meeting was cause for a real good celebration.

The coincidence was absolutely incredible. Both lads survived the war uninjured.
