Pte. Geoffrey Horsman

British Army 5th Btn. East Yorkshire Regiment

from:Leeds

I don't know much about Geoffrey Horsman as he died before I was born but I know he did receive multiple medals for his participation in landing on Gold Beach on D-day. Although I don't know much, there is a story passed down through my family which I find really interesting. As he was charging Gold Beach, he was shot. He only survived because a coin in shirt pocket had stopped the bullet. I still have the bullet now. The coin was made in 1897 and still has the bullet half way through. Although a long post I hope you found this story as interesting as I do.
