239610 Cpl. William McLaren Kirkwood British Army Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) from:Hamilton Dad, William Kirkwood, never spoke of his war time memories as it was too painful. Many of his friends were lost or injured. He served with the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) from 1st of January 1940 till 19th of January 1943 when he was transferred to the Seaforth Highlanders until discharged on 14th of May 1947. He enlisted into the Cameronians Infantry B Corps on 15th of May 1947 and remained with them till 14th of May 1959 when he was discharged on termination of engagement.
