Kenneth Robert Hardy

Royal Navy HMS Victory

from:23 Cricklade Avenue, Streatham, London

My father Ken Hardy only related some of his stories and his work involved during his time served in the Royal Navy in his later years. He became a diver and a lifeboatman during his service, between 1943-1946, and told me how difficult it was at times to remember friends who did not return from the war.

My father became blind in later life, but he always stood and saluted when the minute's silence was announced on Armistice Day. He was very proud to have served his country, and he made me feel very proud.
