233828 CPO. John Newton Royal Navy My father John Newton, was in the Royal Navy and told us of the story of the night they where torpedoed. He said the only ones survived where the people who could catch hold of the ropes that were thrown to them many of them in the water could not feel their hands so they perished. My father was one of the few who survived.
