F/Lt. Jack Stone

Royal Air Force 104 Sqdn

from:Kiveton Park, Yorkshire

My father Jack Stone was a navigator and bomb aimer in 40 and 104 Squadrons. I do not know the details but he was shot down, twice I think, and survived. He was originally a Sargeant and commissioned to Flight Lt. but again have no details.

Additional Information:

I have now further details about my late father. He was a Wireless Operator and Air Gunner although in photographs in uniform he has a navigator's flash.

On 20th of March 1943, Sergeant Stone (my father) was a member of the crew of aircraft W5524 (Vickers Wellington) piloted by L.O. W.L. Dobbin. The aircraft left Gardabia Main to attach enemy troops and motor transport concentrations North West of Mareth. The aircraft force-landed in the sea, crew reported safe and returned to base on 22nd og March 1943
