230695 Cpl. Robert Rose British Army Royal Engineers from:Hull Bob Rose, my father, was born in Hull in 1925. A joiner by trade, he joined the Royal Engineers in 1943. He said it would be safer in the army than being bombed every night in Hull! He was at Normandy D-Day plus 4 and went through France and into Germany. After the war he returned to Hull to start his own joinery business. In later life he took great pleasure as president of the Normandy Veterans Association for the Hull area.
