S/Ldr. Hugh Paynter AFC

Royal Air Force 98 Sqdn.

(d.25th July 1944)

Squadron Leader Paynter AFC, was a pilot in a flying fortress. He was buried in St Philbert-sur-Risle Cemetery, Eure, France. Some other members of the crew were:

  • P/O Jack Dodd, RAF, navigator
  • P/O R. A. McGregor, RAAF, airgunner
  • F/Sgt Thomas Francis Riley, RAFVR, Wop.

    Additional Information:

    RAF ORB's give this crew flying a B25 Mitchell FV 985? VO-S from 98 Squadron, Dunsfold on 23/7/1944 taking off at 15:10 and later exploding in the air. All crew lost.
