228613 George Victor Lanham British Army 5th Btn. East Yorkshire Rgt. My father was a Desert Rat with the 5th East Yorkshire Rgt. He saw action at El Alamein. I believe that only three from the regiment returned to England. They docked at Liverpool, were taken to a camp in Essex, and then on to practise in Scotland for the D-day landings.
