Robert Elder Holt

British Army 51st Highland Div

I would like to find out more of where the 51st Highlanders were posted during WWII. My father joined the TAs in Perth, Scotland just before 1939, and was among the first to be called up. I don't have much information, as he died when I was very young. I do know from my mother that he had to walk to St Valery in France during the Dunkirk evacuation. He was a coachbuilder in Perth before the war.

Update I have a diary mentioning the formation of a 5 Div Amn Company formed from the 525 Amn Coy 526Pit Coy 527 Supply Coy RASC of the 51 Highland Division, training in Perth in 1939. These were formed in Sections A, B and C (all transport sections) and HQ section plus workshops. The diary details the movements from 1939 to 1945, including Dunkirk, Madagascar and Anzio among many other places. It was called the 80 Company RASC Club.
