John Dilworth
Royal Navy
My father, Jack Dilworth, worked for the Admiralty in London at offices in Admiralty Arch at the outbreak of WWII. Apparently he had to sign the Official Secrets Act, so he must have been directly or indirectly involved in classified work. Because of the heavy bombing of London, the department was relocated to Bath, first working at the Empire Hotel in the city centre, then at the Naval establishment at Coombe Down (now known as Fox Hill). He did tell me many years later that he was involved in producing maps for naval and merchant shipping, showing mine-laying operations in the English Channel.
