227638 Sgt. John Fairlie British Army Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders My father was Sgt. John Fairlie, from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. He was captured in Tunisia in January 1943 and imprisoned in Stalag VIIIB (Lamsdorf) from about April 1943 to January 1945. He was force-marched 600 miles across Germany on the infamous death march. He refused to discuss details of his experiences. He died in 1991.
