Cpl. George Abraham DeVille

Royal Canadian Air Force

from:Ontario, Canada

George DeVille is my father and he served as an instrument technician during the Second World War at several airfields in Northern England until the end of the war in 1945. He was a certified master watchmaker, and he was trained as an instrument technician in Ottawa, Ontario, in 1941. He was sent to England in 1941 or 1942. I was eight years old when he returned to Ottawa in Canada after the war in 1945. He had many interesting stories of his time there during the war.

I travelled to England and saw the airfields in northern England where my Dad had been.

My father had a brother Donald DeVille who also served in the RCAF in England during the second world war. My father was 17 years older than Donald and was able to have Donald transferred to his airfield in England. My dad was 38 years old at the end of the second world war in 1945. Donald married an English girl and remained in England his whole life.
