219753 Dvr. Henry Edward "Nib" Axford British Army 560 Field Coy Royal Engineers from:Grove Park (d.4th Feb 1943) Henry Edward Axford was my uncle (my father's brother). He served in the Royal Engineers 560 Field Company in WW2 as a driver. All I know about him is he was a prisoner of war and was on the "Death railway". He died on 4th February 1943 at the POW camp. I don't know which POW camp he was at or what he died of. I am going to Thailand travelling in March 2015 and will be going to pay my respects at his grave in the Kanchanaburi War Cemetery, and also to ride on the railway. Unfortunately all his siblings have passed on so there is no one to ask about him. Not that they talked very much about him when they were alive, mainly because I don't think there was a lot of information around. Any information would be fantastic.
