James Smythe

British Army Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry

(d.13th Aug 1944)

James Smythe served with the Duke of Cornwall Light Infantry. Anyone who has a photograph of him as we don't have any or any information about him wold love to hear from you.

Additional Information:

James Smythe enlisted into the Lancashire Fusliers at the age of 18 in 1935, he was posted to India, China, Africa and Italy. Laterly he was posted to Normandy with the DCLI (He was with them for approx. Four weeks before being killed in action). Whilst in India he was with 151/156 Parachute regiment & was a cook/machine gunner. Originally he was interned at Aunay-Sur-Odon before being re-interned at Banneville-Le-Campagne military cemetery in Caen. I do have a photograph of him.
