Pte. Frederick Victor Hussey
British Army 1/6th Btn. South Staffordshire Regiment
from:London
(d.6th Aug 1944)
When Frederick Hussey died I was 18 months old, just looking for information.
Additional Information:
Further to the information on the Commonwealth War Graves Site which assume you have. Private Hussey served in D Company, 1/6 South Staffordshire, and battalion records confirm he was killed on 6 August. The battalion attacked and seized a ridge near Sur-le-Mont and were heavily exposed to enemy shell and mortar fire that day suffering extensive casualties. If Private Hussey was with the battalion from landing, rather than a battlefield replacement, I have a photo of most of D Company ( a few were on duty elsewhere ) taken shortly before Normandy and he may be on it. Also have a lot of general information you might find interesting. There is one D Company veteran still living who may have known Private Hussey.
