Sgt. James Marvin Love,

US Army 7th Infantry 3rd Division

from:McNary, Louisiana

My father, Technical Sergeant, James M. Love, Jr., fought in North Africa and other places during WW II. He was captured in Anzio, Italy, held outside of Rome, Italy, and marched through the city. He was then put on a train and sent to Stalag II B prison camp, where he stayed almost two years. Near the end of the war, daddy and a fellow POW and Darby's Ranger, Clyde Ray from Wetumka, Oklahoma, escaped. It took them a week to find the allies but they went back and showed the allies where Stalag II B was and helped liberate the entire population of POW's.

I would love to hear from someone who might have known my dad or Clyde Ray.

Additional Information:

My dad was also in Co A, 7th Regt during WWII. He arrived to the unit at the end of Anzio, so our dads wouldn't have known each other. I've been researching my dad and his unit since he passed away in 2008. I went to the Archives in St. Louis and copied all the company morning reports for Co A from August 1943 through the end of the war. I was transcribing reports from February 1944 today and saw your dad's name. I googled him and found your post here. If you are interested, I'd be glad to send you his morning report information (there are only a few entries on him...they do list him as MIA on 31 Jan.) I'd be very interested to hear his story as well.

James Osborne
