William Gordon Cumming

These photos were taken in 1944, I know it was Cairo, my grandfather is on the far left at the back but I'd like to know what Regiment or base this was? He was William Gordon Cumming, born 1909 so actually 'old' to go to war, he wasn't called up until 1944 I believe and went to Cairo in a supplies type role. Prior to that in the UK he had been an office worker for Prudential so would have had good organisational skills. Very little is known about his wartime destinations and I would appreciate any thoughts anyone has. I know its a long shot but thought its worth a try.
