213626 Pte. John E Bean United States Army Infantry from:Alabama My great grandfather John Bean was injured in the Battle of the Bulge. He was captured in January of 1945. According to my grandmother, the guards started moving the prisoners as the Allies were coming, but he was too injured to walk. He was left behind and taken care of by civilians. He remembers sitting on her front porch the day that he finally came home. No one had heard from him, so they were not expecting to see him walking up the dirt road.
