W/O. G. Denwood
Royal Air Force 103rd Sqd.
I have been left two log books, the first is for a Lancaster Number E.D 878 the crew were the following:
W/O G.Denwood
P/O T.R Davies
F/S J.C.Ross
Sgt. E.J Clutter
Sgt. A.L. Barlow
F/S L.G. Morrison
Sft. D.Pedder
Their first operation was on the 12/13th 1943 bombing Dutsburgh. This raid was the first raid by Bomber Command to exceed in weight of bombs dropped the 1000 Bomber Raid on Cologne in May 1942.
The last entry was on 24/25 July, 1943 where the operation was over Hamburg. Quote "The flak was not up to the usual Hamburg standards, but was probably because of the defensive measure - the scattering of metalized paper stripes - by our aircraft which no doubt upset the whole of the enemy's R.D.F system."
