209793 Francis Joseph Higgins Royal Air Force Frank Higgins served as an RAF Aircraft Maintenance Engineer at Driffield during the Second World War. He used to have a drink at the Bell Hotel and married his dance teacher. For Frank the War didn't finish in 1945 and nor did it for the enemy and there was no more the reassuring rumble and roar of Spitfire engines and the RAF couldn't help him. He died betrayed by the Allies, some might think, forgotten and misrepresented and in action on 3rd September 1978 the same month date the War had begun. One day soon a Spitfire might fly over Manchester to remember him and the freedom from control and value system that so many died for.
