Some have said that he may have simply been assigned to this unit as he had collected enough "points" and that the 321st just happened to rotating home at the same he was due to return CONUS.
I would really like to find a source for personnel rosters (landing craft, AB "chalk" numbers, etc.?)
...wish I knew more...
